Vitamin D is an important vitamin that plays a role in supporting healthy immune function, maintaining bone health and assisting the absorption of dietary calcium. A diet deficient in calcium can lead to osteoporosis in later life. Calcium may help prevent osteoporosis when dietary intake is inadequate. Calcium maintains bone density.
